Directors Statement
Consciously, unconsciously and subconsciously, America defines itself by its “blackness” and its “whiteness”. Be it skin pigment, hair texture, body type, speech or wardrobe, the country divides its population based on physical traits. This is how American society is and has always been. If you’re black, you’re not white. And if you’re white, you’re not black.
What if, though, you’re not one race or the other, but both? You’re bi-racial.
Born in Milwaukee’s inner city, you were raised in a small Wisconsin town where no one else looked like you. Teased, mistreated and objectified because of your physical differences, you put up with it.
But you’re older now. And you’re more mature. You see the world differently.

Miles O'Neil
Writer & Director
After executive-producing two independent feature films with his mentor and friend Tate Bunker ("Little Red" in 2012 and "The Field" in 2019), Miles felt it was time to direct his own. Knowing he needed to story-tell in an economical yet compelling fashion, he chose “unknown talent” to carry out his cinematic vision.
Miles grew up in Port Washington, Wisconsin before moving to Milwaukee at the age of 11. In addition to working on motion pictures, he owns and operates The Wicked Hop, a restaurant and bar located in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward neighborhood.
Dominique Reeder
"Jaden"
Not only is this Dominique’s first starring role in a feature film, it’s also his first time acting in one. This lack of big screen experience, however, belies his passion for cinema that dates back to when he saw “The Matrix” at age four.
Dominique is a Milwaukee native who first met Miles while working as a host at The Wicked Hop. After sharing his own life story with Miles (in addition to sharing his appreciation for filmmaking with him), Dominique became the obvious choice to play “Jaden”.
Somewhat mirroring his role in the movie, Dominique has worked his way up the professional ladder at The Wicked Hop and is now a full-time manager.
Carlo “Vinnie” Besasie
Cinematographer
A maestro behind the lens,
Vinnie is an Emmy award-winning commercial director and an accomplished visual storyteller in his own right. His extensive scope of genres and techniques range from highly-stylized pieces to comedy and drama, with a focus on production value throughout.
Also hailing from Milwaukee,
Vinnie first crossed paths with Miles while they worked together on “Little Red”. The two men very much enjoy partnering professionally and share a distinct admiration for risqué humor and cinéma vérité.
Fernando & Bonita Walker
Music Composition & Performance
Multi-instrumentalist Fernando and percussionist Bonita have musical backgrounds rooted in the church. That being said, the husband and wife duo enjoy playing all types of music and welcomed the opportunity to team up on a feature film project.
Born and raised in Chicago, Fernando moved to Milwaukee in the mid-80s. He and Bonita exchanged vows in 1993 and they currently reside in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Fernando formerly worked in the Historic Third Ward, where he and Miles began their artistic collaboration.
